Raw Fairies...

Having previously worked for a nutritionally balanced food delivery service in London, I am always keen to sample the goods of other companies. Still loyal and checking out the competition! Come 4 January 2010, I will be sampling the goods of Raw Fairies... I first heard about them from a magazine (where I get most of my ideas) and googled them. They had an unimpressive website, but the concept appealed to me. Whatever is a hit in sunny California and fast paced New York...usually ends up being a toned-down success, but success all the same, in London. I later saw something on youtube (I think...although, I'm afraid it's no longer there) where Vicki Edgson was reviewing and then endorsing the product. I loved getting my PP delivery on those days I was sampling, but with the novelty factor that is coming with the Raw Fairies delivery for a 5 day detox...I'm all the more excited. Hence, why I couldn't wait til Monday 4 January to share the forthcoming event. Watch this space...

Woof woof WWOOF....

A big thumbs up to WWOOF - World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms. This UK registered charity holds a list of organic farms, smallholdings and even gardens that offer food (organic of course) and accommodation in return for working the land. In the word of Blackadder's Lord Flashheart a big Woof Woof from me! The best thing of all, any one can doo-ooo-it! You don't have to know a thing about organic farming, just be eager to learn and not afraid to get your hands dirty. Running since 1971, they must be doing something right. There is a membership fee of £20 (or £30 for a joint membership) and this gives you access to the list to select your farm, contact your host and arrange your stay. You can stay a long weekend or you can stay for the whole summer...perhaps you'll never want to leave!

Location Vacation

My house mate is completing her dissertation...and as a result she's taken over the house! Apparently her creative juices flow much better in the kitchen. I agree with her, but that does mean there are no juices flowing from my moulinex this week - too noisy. So I'm looking elsewhere for my 5+ a day, and I came across GRAZE. The brain child of the LoveFilm.com crew. It's tagline is nature delivered, and having received my free trial box this w/e, I would in most cases agree.

There was fresh cut pineapple, roasted pistachios and dried cranberries...at least 2 of my 5+ a day. However, the freshness of the pineapple was in question when the delivery was promised on Friday, but did not infact arrive until Saturday. Postal Strike hold back? Possibly.

However, I couldn't fault anything else. Great packaging, great tasting cranberries and pistachios, good portion sizes and good nutritional information. I'm impressed. A guilt free treat to get this through your letterbox. Or is it? If it wasn't for busy as a bee housemate I would feel guilty in being so lazy not to prepare my own cut pineapple chunks, and pots of dried cranberries and pistachio nuts.
