Project Food Blog...

How amazing does the Project Food Blog Challenge sound? It's due to wrap up today, but I've joined the Food Buzz - Food Blog community to keep track of who wins and what other gimics the yanks are using in this fast spreading craze.

It's all so inspirational!

Pressing further ideas...

Have you come across Food Press.com? It even comes with instructions on how to get featured. Thinking of furthering my skills to promote NK - I'd love to get a great camera and some lessons on how to take fantastic food photos. Might ask for that for my 30th Birthday...or a video camera so I can start some online demos for the Nutrition Kitchen.

Lets make it snappy...

Plum Baby...Visionary!

Just doing a spot of Little Sprouts research and came across Plum Baby's new innovative website: Plum Vision. Produced to stimulate a baby's senses not only through food, but also through the visual using lots of colour and sound to simulate what is going on in the short film. There's an abundance of nature with landscapes, animals and even a short film depicting 'wind'...of the outside kind. Each chapter commences with a brief caption on how parents might like to engage their child further with the Plum Vision clip and thereby get all they can out of the programme. However, you can turn this information off if it's distracting 'Small'. Dr Pat Spungin, a Child Psychologist, has worked closely with Plum Baby founder, Susie Willis, to create this sensory extravaganza! I adore this lateral thinking...

Portions for the right proportions...

When eating superfoods galore, it is all to easy to forget that too many calories is still too many calories no matter how many antioxidants they provide. Of course practice and a mindful eye for what works, is the route to the right proportions, but in the mean time until you get there, a great tool is the LoveFoodHateWaste website : http://www.lovefoodhatewaste.com/perfect_portions

They have a range of foods you can choose to cook from, enable you to select how many you are cooking
for (adult and children sized plates differ), and they then inform you how many florets of broccoli you need or how many mugs of rice you need to start off with. They even have a Christmas Lunch perfect portion planner to guide you through the festivities without panning your perfect proportions.

The website also advises on how you can save money and time in the kitchen, as well as recommendation
s on how NOT to waste food. In their own word:
Love Food Hate Waste is the ‘Waste Not Want Not’ of the modern day, providing handy tips, advice and recipes for leftovers to help everyone waste less food.
It's wartime advice at its finest! I love it. Along with 'Make do and Mend' these are the motto's that can (hopefully) rebuild the nation...one vegetable/elbow patch at a time.
